Chess NYC and LLD!

This week LLD was lucky enough to talk to Chess NYC about how they got their feet on the ground and what events are coming up on their calendar. Chess NYC is the perfect combination of what they call mind, body, and soul. They bring people together who love chess through tournaments, lessons, and other fun-filled events. Kids and adults of all ages are involved with the organization, and numbers are growing! And now, from a chess-lover and Chess NYC employee, Michael Propper:

How did Chess NYC get started?
Russ Makofsky started Chess NYC in 2007after observing and playing chess with a consistent group outdoors on theUpper West Side. In 2008, Russ and I partnered and began sharing the great gameof Chess in a way it had never been done before…Now 3 years and 7000+ playerslater, we’re still just getting started and clients keep getting younger andyounger.

 

Tell us about your upcoming chessevents for kids?
Chess NYC Programs and Events occur yearlong:from lessons to classes to tournaments, camps and more! An upcoming event wouldbe our Turkey Tournament open to all ages, 4 to 104 where every player can go homewith a turkey. Winners bring home the Thanksgiving Dinner, totally legit. Butsomething is going on every day.

LLD is very excited to have Chess NYCas our exclusive chess-tutoring provider, tell us what made you want to becomepart of the LLD family?
Safely assisting in the transporting ofour littlest Chess Players has always been a goal of ours. Being able topartner with such a thoughtful and credible organization creates infinitepossibilities for everyone, LLD, Chess NYC and families throughout the city, itprovides greater reach to the youngest talent pool out there. The Lucky LilDarlings Chess Buddies Group that you came up with is a brilliant andFUN way to bring Chess and children together.
What’s your favorite Chess NYC event ofthe year?
I have no favorite Chess NYC Event. Wejust try to out do the last one every time out. But in August we are hosting a Campwith the # 1 Chess Player on the planet, 21-year-old phenomenon GMMagnus Carlsen.  He’s a great all around guy and a ridiculously good/greatChess player. That one will be hard to top!
Who’s your favorite chess player?
Too many to name but one of my localfavorites is Justus Williams. Justus is just 12 years, already a Chessmasterand well on his way to becoming a Grandmaster. He is a fine young man and anexample for all young people to follow.

Liability

You agree to hold harmless Lucky Lil’ Darlings, for any damages caused by one of its sitters working as a Domestic Provider for the Family.  The Family hereby acknowledges that LLD served only as placement agent among Domestic Provider and the Family.

You hereby agree that Lucky Lil’ Darlings is not to be held responsible for any type of property damage (to your car or a third party's car, or any other property) or bodily injury or death (to either occupants of your car or another car) resulting from one of its sitters using your vehicle. It is against LLD policy for sitters to use their own vehicles, and if you choose to allow a sitter to drive your vehicle, or drive any vehicle while working for you, LLD cannot be held liable for any results of your choice to do so. LLD makes no representations about its sitters driving records or claims any responsibility for the quality of the driving services performed.

Please also note that cancellations or rescheduling done within a 24-hour period of the start time of services are subject to the following fee: $50 fee in NY, NJ, CT & CA; and $40 fee in TX, IL, PA, GA & MA. By agreeing to this waiver you grant us permission to charge your credit card.

BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, FAMILY AFFIRMATIVELY CONSENTS TO AUTOMATIC CHARGES TO THE CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD ACCOUNT PROVIDED BELOW. DURING THE TERM OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE APPLICABLE FEES AGREED TO BETWEEN THE REFERRING PARTY AND THE FAMILY WILL BE CHARGED AUTOMATICALLY TO THIS ACCOUNT. THE SERVICES PROVIDED ARE CONTINUOUS AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FAMILY CANCELS OR THE AGREEMENT IS OTHERWISE TERMINATED. FAMILY CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME BY CONTACTING LLD AT [info@luckylildarlings.com or 917.608.1231]. LLD DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR OTHERWISE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN ANY EVENT, LLD’S LIABILITY TO FAMILY FOR ANY REASON AND UPON ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE NET AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID TO LLD BY FAMILY DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE ON WHICH SUCH CLAIM ACCRUED. THIS LIMITATION APPLIES TO ALL CAUSES OF ACTION IN THE AGGREGATE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, MISREPRESENTATION, AND OTHER TORTS.
