3 Get Fit Tips for the Summer!

Meet Aubrie Therrien a Personal Trainer and Health Coach based in NYC who works one-on-one with clients in their homes or home gym’s. She is a licensed exercise professional and holistic health counselor who is NCSF certified. Her specialties include Kettle Bell’s, Pre-Post Natal Training, Women’s Wellness and Nutrition, Weight Loss, TRX Strength Conditioning and Run Coaching.

Summer is upon us and with beach season booming we all want to look and feel great for those sunset BBQs and pool-side cabana’s. Here are her 3 Get Fit Tips for the summer:

1. A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing.

Its easy to want to sit by the pool and relax all summer. Even though the heat may lull you into being immobile on the beach, try to sneak in some big, fat blasting exercises as much as you can to give you that extra metabolism boost throughout the day. Even 3 sets a day of simple exercises will help keep you strong and lean. Summer is also a great time to be outside, so look up a local race in your area and start a simple cardio routine running or walking around your neighborhood. Here’s a great 5 minute circuit you can do at the pool, beach or living room. Do this 3 times a day and your set!

-Deep Squats, 20 repetitions
-Medial or Cross-Over Lunges, 20 repetitions each side
-Push-ups (on knees, wall, or military style), 10 repetitions
-Tricep Dips, 15 repetitions
-Plank, hold for 30 seconds

2. Cut out the bloat.

To lean out, try staying away from heavy, over-filling foods that will expand your belly and satiate your appetite with more water foods such as cucumbers, celery, leafy greens, tomatoes and melons. These foods will keep you hydrated and aide in digestion, causing bloating to go down and you to feel lighter and leaner. Decrease foods that will hinder your digestion like dairy, gluten, alcohol and heavier meats. Here is a recipe for a simple summer salad:

Zucchini “Pasta” Salad:
-Peel the skin off 4 Zucchini’s then turn vertical and continue peeling each side of the Zucchini making “Ribbon Pasta.”
-After all Zucchini’s are peeled and pasta-fied, add them in a salad bowl with 1 cut and quartered, raw Yellow Squash and a half pint of cut and quartered Cherry Tomatoes.
-Take one tablespoon of homemade or store bought (organic) Pesto and the juice of 1.5 Lemons.
-Add sea salt and coarse ground pepper to taste
-Chill for 1 hour
*Optional: Add 1/4 cup light Feta Cheese for extra kick and protein.

3. Log it!

To stay on track, keep a daily log of what you’re eating and of your exercise. Simple apps like “My Fitness Pal,” and “Lose It“” are great ways to track your consumption and also help you see how it feels to be over your limit and how it feels to be at just the right amount. They also let you know things that take up too many calories and sugar during the day that could have been used elsewhere. Track these things during the week so over the weekend you aren’t stressing out at your friends BBQ over how many calories are in the pulled-pork sandwich!

Liability

You agree to hold harmless Lucky Lil’ Darlings, for any damages caused by one of its sitters working as a Domestic Provider for the Family.  The Family hereby acknowledges that LLD served only as placement agent among Domestic Provider and the Family.

You hereby agree that Lucky Lil’ Darlings is not to be held responsible for any type of property damage (to your car or a third party's car, or any other property) or bodily injury or death (to either occupants of your car or another car) resulting from one of its sitters using your vehicle. It is against LLD policy for sitters to use their own vehicles, and if you choose to allow a sitter to drive your vehicle, or drive any vehicle while working for you, LLD cannot be held liable for any results of your choice to do so. LLD makes no representations about its sitters driving records or claims any responsibility for the quality of the driving services performed.

Please also note that cancellations or rescheduling done within a 24-hour period of the start time of services are subject to the following fee: $50 fee in NY, NJ, CT & CA; and $40 fee in TX, IL, PA, GA & MA. By agreeing to this waiver you grant us permission to charge your credit card.

BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, FAMILY AFFIRMATIVELY CONSENTS TO AUTOMATIC CHARGES TO THE CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD ACCOUNT PROVIDED BELOW. DURING THE TERM OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE APPLICABLE FEES AGREED TO BETWEEN THE REFERRING PARTY AND THE FAMILY WILL BE CHARGED AUTOMATICALLY TO THIS ACCOUNT. THE SERVICES PROVIDED ARE CONTINUOUS AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FAMILY CANCELS OR THE AGREEMENT IS OTHERWISE TERMINATED. FAMILY CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME BY CONTACTING LLD AT [info@luckylildarlings.com or 917.608.1231]. LLD DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR OTHERWISE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN ANY EVENT, LLD’S LIABILITY TO FAMILY FOR ANY REASON AND UPON ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE NET AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID TO LLD BY FAMILY DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE ON WHICH SUCH CLAIM ACCRUED.
