5K Runs Offer Fitness and Fun for the Whole Family!

It seems that every weekend there are 5K running races taking place all over Los Angeles. Some benefit charity, some boast beautiful scenery, others have costumes and themes. But no matter what the draw, these weekend runs are a great way for families to kick up their heels and sweat together.

 
I’ve been training runners for 5 years and I know that the start line of a 5K can be pretty intimidating to someone who has never run a “race” before. If you’ve been eyeing your local charity run and wondering if you’d fit in, rest assured that 5Ks are a great place for anyone, including the kids. Runners are a friendly group, for the most part, and most races are for charity and put on by good folks who just want to show their guests a good time.


Not a runner, that’s ok. Most 5Ks are designed for walkers too. You’ll likely see many women and men of all ages, shapes and sizes doing just that – walking!

 
Got Kids? Bring em! Almost all races allow strollers, though some will ask that you start towards the back of the pack to avoid becoming a trip hazard. Keep your stroller light by leaving the diaper bag in the car and check the course description before you head out the door – hills are extra strenuous when you are pushing an additional 50lbs.
Many races realize the benefit of getting kids running early, so they offer a Kids K (or another short distance). These non-competitive fun runs are usually designed for preschool to elementary aged kids. Parents are encouraged to run with their little athletes and everyone cheers when they get a medal at the end. Kids fun runs costs can vary greatly with some being free and others charging up to $25 (usually higher fees includes a tshirt and more kids swag).


Older children may be able to run the 3.1 miles with their parents – or at least walk it. Make sure they are wearing their proper athletic clothes and have eaten a sensible breakfast so you can enjoy the event. If running with kids, you might pick a 5K that has an interesting course such as the beach setting or a theme park. It keeps you all engaged in your surroundings and presents many great photo ops.

 
As a runner and a mom, I love that my 7 year old feels just at home at a race start line as she does at our local playground. She’s surrounded by people celebrating fitness and our community and in the end, whether she’s running or cheering, she always leaves with a positive spirit … and usually a medal!

Minimal information will be provided to each babysitter to allow them to work for you; however, each babysitter has signed a confidentiality agreement forbidding them to disclose this information to anyone except Lucky Lil’ Darlings.

Should any portion or provision of the Terms of Use be found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court with proper jurisdiction, then that provision is stricken from the Terms of Use and all other provisions remain valid and enforceable, and these Terms of Use remain in effect.

Liability

You agree to hold harmless Lucky Lil’ Darlings, for any damages caused by one of its sitters working as a Domestic Provider for the Family.  The Family hereby acknowledges that LLD served only as placement agent among Domestic Provider and the Family.

You hereby agree that Lucky Lil’ Darlings is not to be held responsible for any type of property damage (to your car or a third party's car, or any other property) or bodily injury or death (to either occupants of your car or another car) resulting from one of its sitters using your vehicle. It is against LLD policy for sitters to use their own vehicles, and if you choose to allow a sitter to drive your vehicle, or drive any vehicle while working for you, LLD cannot be held liable for any results of your choice to do so. LLD makes no representations about its sitters driving records or claims any responsibility for the quality of the driving services performed.

Please also note that cancellations or rescheduling done within a 24-hour period of the start time of services are subject to the following fee: $50 fee in NY, NJ, CT & CA; and $40 fee in TX, IL, PA, GA & MA. By agreeing to this waiver you grant us permission to charge your credit card.

BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, FAMILY AFFIRMATIVELY CONSENTS TO AUTOMATIC CHARGES TO THE CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD ACCOUNT PROVIDED BELOW. DURING THE TERM OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE APPLICABLE FEES AGREED TO BETWEEN THE REFERRING PARTY AND THE FAMILY WILL BE CHARGED AUTOMATICALLY TO THIS ACCOUNT. THE SERVICES PROVIDED ARE CONTINUOUS AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FAMILY CANCELS OR THE AGREEMENT IS OTHERWISE TERMINATED. FAMILY CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME BY CONTACTING LLD AT [info@luckylildarlings.com or 917.608.1231]. LLD DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR OTHERWISE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN ANY EVENT, LLD’S LIABILITY TO FAMILY FOR ANY REASON AND UPON ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE NET AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID TO LLD BY FAMILY DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE ON WHICH SUCH CLAIM ACCRUED. THIS LIMITATION APPLIES TO ALL CAUSES OF ACTION IN THE AGGREGATE, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, MISREPRESENTATION, AND OTHER TORTS.
