All I need to know about motherhood I’m learning from intenSati for Mommies

My husband and I are expecting our first child in January and I could not be more excited!  Depending on the moment, I could also not be more scared, happy, unsure, sensitive, confused, overwhelmed, etc.  That’s normal, right?  I’m pregnant!  Thank goodness I have a posse of wise & generous women who’ve been through this, to call upon.

Last November, after a decade in fitness and a lifetime of dance, I launched a fitness class for moms with on-site childcare from Lucky Lil’ Darlings.  My idea was to bring a powerful and empowering fitness class to women who were aspiring, expectant and current moms.  I’d provide a weekly workout, find speakers for a monthly “Mommy Talks” on topics relevant to motherhood and the professionals at LLD would watch over the kiddos at the studio so moms could enjoy some “me” time.  What I didn’t expect, was how beneficial this class would be for me.

Since the time my husband and I began talking about starting a family, the women in this class have been overflowing in their knowledge and generosity.  Here are just a few of the things I have learned from my intenSati for Mommies class!

Mother DOES know best.

Remember the first time you walked into Buy Buy Baby to register?  What’s a Boppie and who’s Sophie the giraffe?!  There is SO MUCH to see and choose from, I felt completely overwhelmed.  I wanted a glass of wine after my visit, but this pregnant body settled for ice cream.  Fortunately, my class moms came to my rescue.  They came armed with lists of their favorite NYC baby items for which I should register and bags of gently used items for me to have.  Their generosity is overwhelming!

Children are amazing!

Each time a parent brings their child for the first time to class, I watch as they tentatively approach the other kids and the sitter from LLD.  There is usually a little hesitation and a glance or two back at mom, but by the end of the hour they are singing together, telling secrets, laughing, and have become fast friends.  I am inspired every week from their fearless capacity to experience joy.

Your body DOES come back!

Let me be honest, as a dancer and fitness professional, I have been obsessed with my body my entire life.  Before we got pregnant, I told myself to a certain extent, the physical changes I would experience would be beyond my control.  HOWEVER, knowing and understanding are two different things.  The best thing I have ever done is watched one of my moms start class with me at EIGHT MONTHS pregnant and return back to class five weeks (to the day) after giving birth!  I have seen that you CAN work out safely throughout your pregnancy, that your body WILL experience significant changes but that it WILL COME BACK!  Our bodies are smart and they remember what to do….we just have to do it!

Community is key!

I began teaching this class because I was scared.  Could I get pregnant?  Would I be a good mom?   What can I do to have a healthy pregnancy & delivery?  How would I juggle everything?  I wanted to assemble a group of like minded women for myself as much as I did for them.  I am so glad I did.  The women in this class are some of the most inspiring, supportive, loving and wise women I know.  I have helped them stay fit, lose weight and stay focused on their goals…..they have helped me become a better woman, mother and wife through their examples and guidance.  They are the first class I told about my pregnancy and I can’t imagine being on this journey without them!

Liability

You agree to hold harmless Lucky Lil’ Darlings, for any damages caused by one of its sitters working as a Domestic Provider for the Family.  The Family hereby acknowledges that LLD served only as placement agent among Domestic Provider and the Family.

You hereby agree that Lucky Lil’ Darlings is not to be held responsible for any type of property damage (to your car or a third party's car, or any other property) or bodily injury or death (to either occupants of your car or another car) resulting from one of its sitters using your vehicle. It is against LLD policy for sitters to use their own vehicles, and if you choose to allow a sitter to drive your vehicle, or drive any vehicle while working for you, LLD cannot be held liable for any results of your choice to do so. LLD makes no representations about its sitters driving records or claims any responsibility for the quality of the driving services performed.

Please also note that cancellations or rescheduling done within a 24-hour period of the start time of services are subject to the following fee: $50 fee in NY, NJ, CT & CA; and $40 fee in TX, IL, PA, GA & MA. By agreeing to this waiver you grant us permission to charge your credit card.

BY SIGNING THIS AGREEMENT, FAMILY AFFIRMATIVELY CONSENTS TO AUTOMATIC CHARGES TO THE CREDIT OR DEBIT CARD ACCOUNT PROVIDED BELOW. DURING THE TERM OF THIS AGREEMENT, THE APPLICABLE FEES AGREED TO BETWEEN THE REFERRING PARTY AND THE FAMILY WILL BE CHARGED AUTOMATICALLY TO THIS ACCOUNT. THE SERVICES PROVIDED ARE CONTINUOUS AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL FAMILY CANCELS OR THE AGREEMENT IS OTHERWISE TERMINATED. FAMILY CAN CANCEL AT ANY TIME BY CONTACTING LLD AT [info@luckylildarlings.com or 917.608.1231]. LLD DISCLAIMS ALL LIABILITY WITH RESPECT TO ITS OBLIGATIONS UNDER THIS AGREEMENT OR OTHERWISE FOR CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, AND EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ANY WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. IN ANY EVENT, LLD’S LIABILITY TO FAMILY FOR ANY REASON AND UPON ANY CAUSE OF ACTION SHALL BE LIMITED TO THE NET AMOUNT ACTUALLY PAID TO LLD BY FAMILY DURING THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING THE DATE ON WHICH SUCH CLAIM ACCRUED.
