Where did all the Christmas go?

I’m sitting in the family room at the end of January in Christmas treeless room with all the decorations packed away. Just a few weeks ago the house was so lively with the family home. I miss seeing the revolving refrigerator door, hearing the 24 hour humming of the washer and dryer and waiting in the long line for the shower. Just weeks ago I’d get the phone calls saying how excited they were to come home or the countdown of days until they arrived. Then a few days before Christmas I’d watch the door open to one smiling face after another as they dragged their million suitcases inside for the holidays.

Just a few weeks ago my house was filled with Christmas decorations and lots of family. How the time flies!

They wanted that escape from their realities. What they needed was mom’s cooking, cookie baking, clothes washed, a clean bathroom, Christmas movies in the dvd player, and their clean beds to tuck into. What I didn’t mention at the beginning of my reflection was that it took me a few weeks to recuperate after everyone left. When the refrigerator stopped opening because it was empty, the washer stopped humming because it was leaking, and the shower line dwindled because the rod feel off the wall. That’s my reality. I love you guys.

Spreading Holiday Cheer with Toys for Tots

This holiday season Lucky Lil’ Darlings is partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Toys for Tots collects toys to give to children in less fortunate circumstances and we are very excited to be volunteering with them this season! We’ve been helping Toys for Tots in some different ways this December:

Having a blast at a Kid Zone at a Toys for Tots Toy Drive in Dallas

LLd ran a Kid Zone in Dallas at the 4th Annual Toys for Tots Toy Drive Party at the NorthPark Center in Dallas on December 9th. Our city coordinator Angela called the event a huge success: ”We had so much fun helping support the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation at NorthPark Center in Dallas. What a wonderful event and a great way to give to others during the holiday season!”

LLD sitters with members of the Marine Corps

Some of our sitters have volunteered at Toys for Tots events around NYC helping raise donations alongside members of the Marine Corps. Shannon, one of our sitters who volunteered at an event this week, said that “the Marines were so grateful to have extra pairs of hands,eager to help and the turnout of donations was great!”
